Materiality sets the tone throughout the home. Rich timber finishes bring depth to the interiors, while natural light softens the darker palette to keep each space feeling open and comfortable. Small moments of colour add character along the way, allowing the home to feel layered without becoming overwhelming.
The living room introduces this palette through a balance of clean lines and softer forms. A leather sofa from Grey & Sanders anchors the space, while light traces the curved feature wall, bringing subtle depth to the interior. A discreet bi-fold window connects the living area to the adjacent room, allowing natural light to filter through while maintaining privacy when needed. As daylight fades, layered lighting creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere for both family gatherings and quieter moments at home.
The dining area continues this sense of connection. A solid timber dining table becomes the heart of the home, offering a place for everyday meals and time spent together. Given the home's narrow layout, the kitchen remains visually connected without being fully open. A half-glazed door and sliding internal window allow natural light and conversation to flow between the two spaces, creating a greater sense of openness while maintaining clear separation.
Designed for everyday ease of use, the kitchen balances practicality with refined detailing. Frequently used essentials are kept within comfortable reach through a pull-down storage system, while an undermount sink and coordinated gunmetal fittings create a clean, understated finish. A Travertine-inspired sintered stone countertop introduces subtle variation against the darker walnut cabinetry, bringing balance to the material palette.
The home's thoughtful planning is most evident in the private spaces. Originally a three-room home, the layout was reconfigured to accommodate every member of the family while preserving generous shared areas. Part of the master bedroom was transformed into an additional room, with a bi-fold pocket window borrowing natural light from the living area while maintaining privacy when needed. Built-in study desks complete spaces tailored to the needs of each occupant.
