  • Materiality sets the tone throughout the home. Rich timber finishes bring depth to the interiors, while natural light softens the darker palette to keep each space feeling open and comfortable. Small moments of colour add character along the way, allowing the home to feel layered without becoming overwhelming.

The living room introduces this palette through a balance of clean lines and softer forms. A leather sofa from Grey & Sanders anchors the space, while a curved feature wall gently breaks up the surrounding geometry. Light from the lamp traces the curve, casting a warm glow that adds another layer of comfort as the day transitions into evening.

Space planning became one of the project's biggest priorities. Originally a three-room home, the layout was carefully reworked to comfortably accommodate every member of the family while preserving generous shared spaces for gathering. One of the bedrooms was created from a portion of the master bedroom, with a bi-fold pocket window introduced to bring in light from the living area while allowing the room to be closed off for privacy when needed.

This same sense of continuity extends into the dining area. A solid timber dining table becomes the heart of the space, offering somewhere for family dinners and quieter moments throughout the day. Given the home's narrow layout, the kitchen remains visually connected without being completely open. A half-glazed door and sliding internal window allow daylight, conversation, and movement to pass between the two spaces, creating a greater sense of openness while keeping each area distinct.

The kitchen was designed around everyday ease of use. Frequently used essentials are kept within comfortable reach through a pull-down storage system, while an undermount sink, gunmetal tap, and matching soap dispenser create a clean, understated finish. A Travertino-inspired sintered stone countertop introduces texture against the darker walnut cabinetry, bringing contrast and subtle variation to the material palette.

Each bedroom responds to the needs of its occupant rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach. Built-in study desks provide dedicated places to work or study, while warm lighting carries the same inviting atmosphere found throughout the rest of the home.

More than any individual material or detail, the project is defined by its planning. Every adjustment to the layout, every concealed door, and every built-in element was guided by the family's routines and the way they wanted to live together. The result is a home that feels cohesive, intuitive, and deeply considered. One where every space has been shaped with purpose.
